And Erling - believe me I tried to get certified some time ago! Pany 
referred me to a local agent to train, who refused to train me because 
they knew I was running my own business and wasn't going to work for 
them! Pany didn't seem to be particularly concerned about this 
protective arrangement when I spoke to them. Because I'd only come 
across two KX-TDxx units a year at best (and it's usually to fix the 
infrastructure which I'm already licensed for) it hardly seemed worth 
investing all the time for such little return. The cost for the local 
agent is so high (and many agents have stopped doing Panasonic PABXs in 
favour of other brands) it isn't cost effective to bring in the hired 
guns leaving me to work it out.

If things change (i.e. there's a real demand for Panasonic service work 
around me and it's clear that it's not being adequately / fairly covered 
by the local oligopoly) I'll attempt to train somewhere else.
